How to Become a Twitch Partner

So, you have decided that streaming is now a serious part of your life, and you want to take it beyond a simple ‘hobby’ and into a potential career? Well, congrats, and welcome to one of the most exciting creative content industries on the planet! Becoming a Twitch Partner is the ultimate goal for most who join the platform, and it’s a journey and a half to get there. But, what does that journey entail?

 What is a Twitch Partner?

A Twitch Partner is someone who has completed the Path to Affiliate program and continued to grow even beyond that. Becoming a Twitch Affiliate is the first step to becoming a monetized channel, but Twitch Partners get a whole host of additional benefits above and beyond what Affiliates get. For example:

  • Partners have access to custom Cheermotes when viewers Cheer with Bits. Affiliates do not have this customizability feature.

  • Partners have access to up to 60 custom Subscriber Emotes, where Affiliates only have 5.

  • Partners have access to up to 60-days of VOD storage, versus the 14-day VOD storage of Affiliates.

  • Partners can choose to have up to 15-minutes of ‘stream delay’, whereas Affiliates do not have any stream delay options at all.

  • Partners get a specialized priority line for customer services, whereas Affiliates do not.

  • Partners get a verified Partner badge on their profile.

As you can see, being a Partner comes with some perks and benefits that Affiliates don’t have access to. This makes the process of becoming a partner that much more satisfying once you reach it. So, now that you know what being a partner means, how do you get there?

How to Become a Twitch Partner

Becoming a Twitch Partner is much like becoming an Affiliate. You need to hit a few streaming benchmarks and maintain them in order to qualify for the title. Here is what you need:

  • You must have completed the ‘Path to Affiliate’ requirements.

    • It is not possible to become a Partner without first becoming an Affiliate, so focus on those steps first.

  • You must have an average of 75 active viewers every time you stream.

    • Maintaining a regular viewership base is paramount to having a successful Twitch streaming profile. So, you need to have a dedicated user base who watches your streams and engages with them.

  •  You must stream at least 12 times per month.

    • You need to make a serious commitment to streaming in order to be a Partner. Partners need to stream at least 12 times a month, for an extended period of time–usually an hour per stream.

  •  You must stream at least 25 hours per month.

    • You need to, at minimum, commit to streaming 25 hours per month. This shows Twitch that you are serious about making this a lifestyle, and that you are committed to their platform and your subscribers.

  • You must apply to be a Partner.

    • One you have hit all of the above criteria, you finally need to apply for Partner status. This is done by going to the Creator Dashboard and clicking ‘Apply’ under the ‘Path to Partner’ program. Once you fill out the form, a Twitch employee will manually review your profile and determine if you qualify for Partner status.
